Fifteen days after the Butibori flyover subsided, the cause remains unclear, and it’s uncertain if it can be repaired. A departmental team visited but avoided the media.
The NHAI’s delayed inspection team visited the site around 9:30 AM on Tuesday and stayed for about an hour and a half, but no details were shared. When local officials were asked for the names of the visiting officers, they referred to them as an “expert team.” The NHAI has not yet confirmed whether the flyover can be repaired.
Is There a Cover-Up?
The delay in the investigation has raised questions about a possible cover-up. Initially, it was claimed that the flyover had no design flaws and that traffic would soon resume. However, only limited barricading has been put in place around the damaged areas.
Reports indicate that two spans on the Nagpur side have sunk, and parts of the bridge have broken, raising concerns about the safety of public infrastructure. The incident emphasizes the need for more stringent monitoring of such projects.
