Maharashtra’s Higher and Technical Education Minister, Chandrakant Patil, has directed officials to submit a proposal to the state cabinet for a new government polytechnic college in Mul town, Chandrapur. This move is aimed at meeting the rising demand for skilled workers in the fast-growing district, according to a government statement.
In a meeting at Mantralaya, Patil highlighted the urgent need to provide technical education to local youth to support the industrial growth of Chandrapur. “Chandrapur is becoming an industrial hub, and skilled workers are crucial for its progress. A government polytechnic in Mul will help meet this need and equip youth with valuable technical skills,” he said.
The minister promised to fast-track the project once it’s approved by the cabinet. Former minister and MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar, a strong supporter of the initiative, emphasized its importance in promoting industrial growth, creating jobs, and addressing the skill gap in the region.
Mungantiwar stated, “The establishment of this college will strengthen the district’s educational infrastructure and provide students with employable skills,” highlighting its importance in improving career opportunities for local youth.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including B Venugopal Reddy, Dr. Ujjwala Chakradeo, and others. They stressed that the proposed polytechnic would address the skill gap and support regional development. Once approved, it is expected to position Chandrapur as a hub for technical education, boosting industrial growth, local employment, and economic development in the region.
