Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari has emphasized the importance of keeping the area within a 10-kilometer radius of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport free from any interference caused by pets, birds, or other animals. She has directed officials to enforce restrictions on pets and focus on maintaining cleanliness and safety in the vicinity.
Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari chaired a meeting of the Airport Environmental Management Committee in the conference hall of her office. During the meeting, she emphasized the need for regular inspections of areas within a 10-kilometer radius of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport to ensure that animals, pets, and birds do not inhabit the vicinity. Authorities from the Forest Department, Municipal Corporation, MIHAN, and local governing bodies were directed to closely monitor and manage the area.
To prevent the presence of pets and birds near the airport, awareness campaigns in nearby villages were proposed. A protective wall has also been built around the airport to enhance safety.
Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari pointed out that stray dogs are still present in some areas and that bird activity poses a potential risk to flight operations. She urged the Municipal Corporation to take the necessary steps to address these issues.
She stressed the importance of creating a systematic process for the collection and scientific disposal of daily waste generated at the airport. Bidari called for the cooperation of the Municipal Corporation in setting up this mechanism to ensure efficient waste management.
