Sai Sharma in Open Group and Shraddha Bajaj in Women’s Group Annexed the Titles of the Nagpur District Open and Women’s Chess Championship 2025 organized by Chess Association Nagpur in association with G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation at Vivekanand Hall, Shraddha House, Kingsway, Near Kasturchand Park, Nagpur held on 12th January 2025.
Sai Sharma scored 6.5 out of 7 to remain a clear winner. Mayank Hedau, Yugant Ramteke, Chandrasekhar Sable, Sumedh Ramteke, Apratim Yadav and Deep Juare scored 5.5 pointS and were placed from 2nd to 7th in the merit list based on their tie break scores. Veteran prize went to Shri H.K.Khan. A consolation prize was also given to Hemantkumar Devangan.
In the women group, Shraddha Bajaj with 6.5 points was a clear winner. Lakshita Rathod and Divyanshi Khandelwal scored 5.5 points and were placed 2nd and 3rd based on tie break scores. Vritika Game, Anvi Hirde, Swara Gandhi, Tanishka Bhardwaj and Bhakti Titarmare scored 5 points and were placed from 4th to 8th place based on tie break scores. Veteran Prize went to 70 year old participant Smt Asha Rai.
From this year the Nagpur District Selection Chess Championship will also carry cash prizes to the winners sponsored by MHK Sancheti Group. Accordingly Sai Sharma, the winner of open group got richer by Rs.2000/- and Shraddha Bajaj also got Rs. 2000/- as cash prize for 1st rank in women group.
Top 4 finishers in open group i.e. Sai Sharma, Mayank Headu, Yugant Ramteke and Chadrashekhar Sable and Top 4 finishers in Women group i.e. Shraddha Bajaj, Lakshita Rathod, Divyanshi Khandelwal and Vritika Game were selected to represent Nagpur district in Maharashtra state Open and Women’s chess Championship to be held late this year. Prizes were distributed at the hands of Shri Amit Yenurkar, Director MHK Sancheti Group who sponsored the cash prizes. CA Saket Bagadia, Ex. President of ICAI Nagpur was the guest of honour. Top Ten finishers in Open ad Girls group were awarded cash prizes sponsored by MHK Sancheti Group. Trophies were given to top 4 finishers in Open and Women group. Medals were given to top two finishers in Under-15,13, 11, 9 and 7 age categories.
SNA Shyam Agrawal was the Chief Arbiter who was assisted by FA Bharti Dhote, SNA Prayas Ambade, SNA Akash Rewatkar and Prathamesh Machave.
