In areas such as Chhatrapati Nagar, Shivaji Nagar, Dhantoli, and Ramdaspeth, an illegal parking operation is reportedly thriving, disguised as authorized by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). An investigation by Nagpur Today has uncovered the illegal activities in Chhatrapati Nagar.
Motorists are being charged Rs 15 to Rs 20 for parking, with receipts bearing the NMC’s name issued after payment. One worker at the location revealed that a fixed monthly fee is paid to the NMC, suggesting a potential connection between the two.
Vehicles are frequently parked without permission in front of residential properties, creating considerable inconvenience for residents. This unauthorized parking operation has become a major nuisance, prompting locals to demand swift action from both the Nagpur police and NMC to address the issue.
The issue is further aggravated as heavy vehicles and two-wheelers occupy residential colonies, often parking illegally at building entrances. This not only disrupts daily life but also blocks pedestrian pathways.
Local residents have voiced their frustration, accusing the Traffic Police Department and NMC of ignoring the issue. They point out that the lack of a proper parking policy and designated spaces in residential areas has intensified their difficulties. Despite numerous complaints, no concrete actions have been taken by the authorities, leaving residents disheartened and angry.
The residents have urged authorities to take immediate and strict measures to resolve this problem, which has significantly impacted their daily routines.
