Indore Police uncovered a counterfeit currency printing operation in Nagpur’s Choks Colony, located on Nagpur-Kamptee Road under Jaripatka Police jurisdiction. The raid led to the arrest of six individuals, including Malkit Singh Gurmesh Singh Virk and Manpreet Singh Kulwinder Singh Virk.
The accused were running a sophisticated setup to print fake ₹200 and ₹500 notes and had already circulated counterfeit currency worth ₹20 lakh across Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, including cities like Mumbai, Pune, Jodhpur, Indore, and Jabalpur.
Authorities seized counterfeit notes worth ₹2 lakh and equipment used for printing, including three laser printers, two lamination machines, A-4 size paper, RBI security strip adhesives, and a laptop.
Police revealed that the accused dispatched counterfeit currency bundles as parcels through travel buses to different locations. They charged ₹20,000 to ₹30,000 in genuine currency for printing fake ₹1 lakh, depending on the client.
The breakthrough came when Lasudia Police apprehended Shubham Rajak (26) from Jabalpur with counterfeit notes at Devash Naka. His interrogation led to the arrest of Mahipal Beda from Nasrullaganj, Sehore, who revealed the involvement of Malkit and Manpreet in Nagpur.
A raid on Malkit’s house exposed the full-fledged counterfeit note printing unit. Indore police took the accused into custody for further investigation.
Jaripatka Police Unaware:
Shockingly, despite operating within Jaripatka Police’s jurisdiction, local police and crime branch units were unaware of the counterfeit setup, raising concerns about their vigilance. Authorities are now probing further links to this inter-state racket.
