Vicky Kaushal’s latest period drama Chhaava has made a grand entry at the box office, securing the biggest opening of 2025 despite mixed reviews. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film has also emerged as the highest opener of Vicky’s career.
According to early estimates, Chhaava raked in approximately Rs 31 crore (nett) across all languages on its opening day. The film recorded an impressive 35.17% occupancy in Hindi markets, further solidifying its strong start.
This milestone marks a new high for Vicky Kaushal, surpassing his previous best opening with Uri: The Surgical Strike, which had collected Rs 8.20 crore on its debut. With this blockbuster start, Chhaava is poised for a strong run at the box office in the coming days.

Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava has set a new benchmark at the box office, surpassing Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, which earned Rs 15.30 crore on its opening day, making it the biggest Bollywood opener of 2025. The film also broke the Valentine’s Day record held by Gully Boy (Rs 19.40 crore in 2019), becoming the highest-grossing Indian film released on February 14.
