A 27-year-old man was stabbed to death by his friends following a drunken altercation near Sahu Garden in Somwari Quarters during the early hours of Monday.
The deceased, identified as Kartik Chaubey, and his friends were consuming alcohol late Sunday night when a dispute escalated. During the argument, Kartik allegedly hurled a beer bottle at one of the accused, provoking a violent response. In retaliation, the accused reportedly stabbed him, resulting in his death on the spot.
Sakardhara police have registered a case of murder and identified the suspects. Preliminary investigations indicate that both the deceased and the accused had prior criminal records.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing problem of public drinking in Nagpur, raising concerns over law enforcement and public safety in the city.
