Nagpur police have geared up for a major crackdown against criminals and illegal liquor on eve of Holi. The Police Commissioner has warned all the Police station heads that strict action will be taken against any leniency shown in tackling criminals and illegal liquor vendors.
In light of increasing illegal liquor trade and old disputes resurfacing during Holi, the police have become vigilant. Checkpoints have been set up at 40 locations across the city, where police and traffic branch teams are conducting strict “drunk and drive” checks.
Nagpur Police’s DCP Niketan Kadam has deported two women involved in illegal liquor trade from the district for six months. Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Singhal has warned station heads that if any leniency is shown in the crackdown, stern measures will be taken.
Nagpur Police has made it clear that any kind of hooliganism and illegal activities will not be tolerated. The police have appealed to citizens to only spread joy with the colors of Holi and maintain peace and harmony.
