In a large-scale pre-Holi crackdown, Nagpur City Police conducted a targeted operation against illegal liquor, narcotics, and weapons across various police jurisdictions. The drive, carried out under the directives of senior officials, led to multiple arrests and significant seizures aimed at maintaining law and order ahead of the festival on March 14.
Key highlights of the operation:
• Illegal Liquor: 50 cases were registered under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, with 52 individuals facing action. Police seized liquor worth ₹4,38,531.
• Drug Seizure: Four cases under the NDPS Act led to the arrest of six individuals and the confiscation of MD powder and cannabis valued at ₹1,94,000.
• Weapons Recovery: Under the Arms Act, 16 cases were filed, resulting in the apprehension of 16 suspects and the seizure of 16 iron weapons worth ₹5,600.
Authorities have intensified surveillance and pledged continued vigilance to prevent illicit activities during Holi celebrations.
