Nagpur: A tragic accident in Butibori claimed the life of an 18-year-old youth after a Mahindra 700 car plunged off a flyover near the T-Point on the Butibori-Tuljapur National Highway. His sister sustained critical injuries in the crash, which occurred on Friday, March 14.
According to Butibori Police, the accident happened when the driver mistakenly took the Chandrapur-bound flyover instead of heading towards Nagpur. Realizing the error, the driver panicked, lost control of the speeding vehicle, and crashed into the flyover railing, causing the car to fall nearly 20 feet below.
The deceased has been identified as Arinjay Abhijit Shravane (18), while his sister, Akshata Abhijit Shravane, was critically injured. Also present in the car were three friends—Saksham Bafana, Himanshu Bafana, and Manas Badani (all around 20 years old)—residents of Gandhi Chowk in Nagpur’s Sadar area.
The group had traveled to Wardha for a Holi celebration and picked up Arinjay and Akshata on their way back to Nagpur. The accident occurred when the driver mistakenly entered the wrong flyover, leading to the fatal crash.
Inspector Prataprao Bhosale of Butibori Police confirmed that five people were in the car at the time of the accident.
The injured have been admitted to Kingsway Hospital in Nagpur. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
