Holi… the festival of colors, joy, and togetherness! A time when the air is filled with vibrant hues, and relationships grow stronger with every splash of color. However, for the police force, this festival often only brings reminders of duty and security arrangements. The police personnel and officers of Nagpur city remain engaged from morning till night, ensuring law and order, with their hands holding not colors but the weight of responsibility.

But amidst this routine, Nagpur City Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal resolved to add a new shade of happiness. With the vision that at least for one day, duty-bound officers could set aside their responsibilities for a while and immerse themselves in the joy of festivities, he organized a special Holi celebration for all police officers, personnel, and their families on March 15, 2025, at 8:00 AM at the Police Headquarters Ground. This was a day dedicated to the sheer celebration of togetherness, where the colors of joy and relationships would be freely spread!

✦ A Splash of Colors, A Celebration of Bonds!
The police headquarters ground transformed into a colorful paradise, with bursts of pink, purple, green, and saffron filling the air. Smiling faces, lively conversations, and rhythmic dance steps to the beats of music created an enchanting scene! The moment the Police Commissioner himself, along with his wife, stepped onto the ground, the excitement doubled. Police personnel, their families, and even the little ones participated wholeheartedly in the celebrations.
Festivals are not about differences; they are about unity. Setting aside rank, position, and formalities, everyone joyfully applied colors to each other, just like how life blends different shades into our journey. This was not just a festival; it was a moment of strengthening bonds and building camaraderie!

✦ ‘Duty’ and ‘Festivities’ – A Perfect Balance!
Just the previous day, from 5 AM to midnight, the police force had ensured an unwavering security presence throughout the city, preventing any untoward incidents and maintaining peace. Senior and junior officers alike had patrolled the city tirelessly. But today, the same police personnel, who had spent an entire day safeguarding others, found their own stress melting away in the joyous rhythm of colors. The lathis were replaced with packets of gulal, and their tense expressions gave way to broad smiles!

In his address, Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal emphasized that while duty is paramount, mental well-being and happiness are equally crucial. For the first time in the history of Nagpur Police, such a program was held, making this an unforgettable occasion. Events like these help relieve stress within the police force. In some states, like Uttar Pradesh, Holi is celebrated on the following day as well!
✦ Dignitaries and Enthusiastic Participation!
This grand celebration saw the esteemed presence of Joint Police Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional Police Commissioner Shri Sanjay Patil, Shri Shivaji Rathod, Shri Pramod Shewale, Deputy Commissioner of Police Niketan Kadam, Ashwini Patil, Shweta Khedkar, Rahul Madne, Shashikant Satav, along with all Assistant Commissioners of Police and Station House Officers.

A special presence was that of Mrs. Vanita Singal, Principal Secretary (Environment), who traveled from Mumbai to Nagpur for the occasion. DCP Niketan Kadam and his wife also participated in the revelry. The atmosphere was filled with energy as everyone danced to the beats of music, their faces lit up with pure joy. This moment was not just about celebrating a festival; it was living proof that even within the disciplined framework of duty, festivities could find their rightful place!

The event’s anchoring was skillfully conducted by Police Head Constable Shri Sanjay Singh, who added to the vibrancy of the occasion. Towards the end, everyone relished a delightful refreshment, leaving with a single thought in their minds – “For the first time in our service, we celebrated Holi like this, and all credit goes to Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, Police Commissioner of Nagpur City!”
