Students of the Final BDS 2024 batch at Government Dental College and Hospital, Nagpur, are required to have a minimum attendance of 75% for written exams and 80% for practicals as per the standards of the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik. Out of the total students in the Final BDS 2024 batch, 26 students had attendance below 75% (written) and 80% (practical).
Despite this, to ensure that students do not suffer academic losses, a discussion was held in the College Council, and with everyone’s consent, the students were given a chance to appear for the exams. In the results declared on 10.03.2024, out of 58 students, 47 passed. However, two students failed in the written exam, and nine students failed in the practical exam. According to examiners’ observations, the performance of the failed students in the final-year BDS exams was unsatisfactory.
The appointment of practical examiners is done by MUHS, Nashik, and the institution has no control over their selection or the reports they submit. Therefore, the allegations against me are false. Additionally, the allegation regarding my son’s Non-Creamy Layer certificate is also incorrect.
As per the 2012 government resolution, a child of an officer who joins as a Class-I officer after the age of 40 is eligible for the certificate. Accordingly, my son received the certificate. The application for the Non-Creamy Layer certificate was submitted along with the necessary documents, including the relevant government resolution and proof of my three-year income. Hence, the allegations against me are baseless, said Dean Dr. Datarakar.
