New Delhi: A Delhi-based content creator’s attempt to score a free breakfast at a luxury hotel backfired when hotel staff uncovered the ruse, forcing her to pay ₹3,600 for the meal, reported Hindustan Times.
Nishu Tiwari, known for her social media series “Unethical Life Hacks,” attempted the stunt at a five-star hotel in Chanakyapuri earlier this month. Posing as a guest, she arrived in pyjamas and a robe, provided a fake room number, and managed to enter the hotel’s breakfast buffet area.
Along with a team member, Tiwari enjoyed a lavish spread, seemingly pulling off the trick—until her colleague left their phone behind in the dining area. When hotel staff tried to return the device and called the room number she had given, they realized the guests registered there were not her or her team member.
Caught in the Act
Tiwari was stopped and questioned by the hotel staff. Realizing the jig was up, she admitted to not being a guest and offered to pay for the meal. “The hotel staff was laughing with us. They were also surprised to realise someone could trick them like this,” she told HT.com.
Social Media Backlash
The incident sparked a wave of reactions online, with some finding it amusing and others criticizing the influencer for promoting unethical behavior.
“What type of joker are you?” a user commented.
“Haha, it was fun watching this,” wrote another.
However, some raised concerns, saying, “Even if it was a joke, others might get ideas from it. Why promote such things?”
While Tiwari insists it was an experiment for entertainment, the incident highlights the fine line between content creation and misleading social behavior.
