VIA HRD Forum and NIPM Nagpur Chapter jointly organized the session on “Emotional Intelligence for HR Fraternity” on 21st March 2025 at VIA, Nagpur.
Expert speaker, Dr Urvashi Yashroy, Director of Tuli College of Hotel Management, Nagpur shared the five key elements of emotional intelligence : Self-awareness, Self-regulation, Motivation, Empathy and Social skills.
She advised the HR professionals and participants to control your temper both at workplace and at home, otherwise its consequences are so expensive that no one can afford it and make your happiness so contagious that no one can stay uninfected.
Dr Yashroy highlighted different types of anger—one being constructive, driven by concern and care, while the other is destructive, manifesting as either explosive or implosive reactions.
She shared the remedies to control the anger by practicing daily exercise, meditate, practice deep breathing, etc which helps to reduce our irritation, aggressive behaviour, rude words, excessive and loud talking, etc.
Explaining the causes of anger because of psychological factors, inferiority complexes, social pressures, and even diet could trigger it.
She also shared conflict management steps, emphasizing the importance of staying calm, using silence strategically, discussing issues openly, responding constructively, resolving conflicts through compromise, and moving forward without resentment to maintain healthy relationships and prevent future disputes.
Additionally, she explained the Japanese method of controlling anger, which connects emotions with bodily organs, offering a holistic approach to emotional regulation.

Dr Suresh Pandilwar, Co-Chairman of VIA HRD Forum in his opening remark informed about HR Challenges and Emotional intelligence is essential for HR fraternity to build strong teams, encourage positive cultures, and enhance employee engagement and retention by understanding and managing emotions effectively.
Neelam Bowade, Convener of HRD Forum conducted the proceedings and also introduced the guest speaker. Sharad Bhave from NIPM Nagpur Chapter summed up the session and also proposed a vote of thanks.
