Unseasonal rains accompanied by strong winds lashed Nagpur in the early hours of Wednesday, disrupting the city’s power distribution network. However, Mahavitaran swiftly responded, restoring electricity in most affected areas within a few hours.

The heavy rains, which started around 1:30 AM, caused power outages in several localities, including Parvati Nagar, Rameshwari, Abhay Nagar, Besa, Manewada, Rambagh, Mahal, Sakkardara, New Subhedar, Janki Nagar, Bhagwan Nagar, Umred Road, Sutgirni, Wathoda, Bagadganj, Shri Krishna Nagar, Wadi, Trimurti Nagar, Chhatrapati Nagar, Somalwada, and Manish Nagar.
Several transformers malfunctioned, tree branches fell on power lines, and electric poles either bent or collapsed, leading to widespread disruptions. Wadi was particularly affected, with multiple electrical discs damaged and power lines snapping at various locations.
The Mahal division of Mahavitaran bore the brunt of the storm’s impact. Despite the challenges, Mahavitaran’s field teams acted swiftly and managed to restore power in most areas by early morning.

Additionally, as Wednesday was a scheduled maintenance day, pre-planned servicing and repair efforts aided in stabilizing the power supply across the city. Work is still ongoing in a few areas to ensure complete restoration.
