Nandanvan Police in Nagpur apprehended a murder accused from Bihar who had been hiding in the city to evade arrest. The accused, identified as Mohammad alias Dablu Mohammad Alamgir (42), a resident of Hajipur in Vaishali district, Bihar, was taken into custody near Pathar Nagar, Power House area, around noon on May 7.
Based on credible intelligence inputs, a police team set up a trap in the area and detained Alamgir. Upon questioning, he confessed to shooting Mohammad Shabbir Alam, a resident of Nunagola in Vaishali, over a property dispute on May 3. The murder had taken place in Hajipur Town, and a case had been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act.
Fearing arrest by Bihar Police, Alamgir fled to Nagpur and began residing in the Pathar Nagar locality. However, local police received information about his presence and quickly acted to detain him. A background check confirmed that the Hajipur Town Police had booked him under Sections 103, 61(2), 3(5), and 27 of the IPC and Arms Act.
Following confirmation, Nandanvan Police informed the concerned authorities in Bihar and handed over the accused to Hajipur Town Police after completing the necessary legal procedures.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Nisar Tamboli, Additional CP (South) Shivajirao Rathod, DCP Rashmita Rao (Zone 4), and Assistant CP Narendra Hivare (Ajni Division). The arrest was executed by a team led by PI Jaywant Patil, along with PSI Pravin Raut and police personnel Lokesh Randive, Dhiraj Thote, Dinesh Juganahake, Pravin Marape, Rahul Khalatkar, and Ramdas Harne.
