Chess Association Nagpur celebrated the 101stInternational Chess Day on 20th July 2025 by Cutting a Cake at the hands of combination of Veteran Chess Player of Nagpur Shri V.K. Shrivastava and Chess playing Kids of various Age Groups in presence of Chief Guest Shri Rajesh Batwani, Prominent Businessman, Shri Girish Vyas President Chess Association Nagpur & Vice-President Maharashtra Chess Association, Shri Amit Gandhare Director(Public Relations) Raisoni Group, Shri Amit Yenurkar, Director MKH Sancheti Group, Shri Bhushan Shriwas Secretary Chess Association Nagpur and Shri S S Soman MCA Observer Committee Member.
The 20th July 2025 is celebrated as International Chess Day as the FIDE(World Chess Governing Body) was founded on 20th July 1924. This was the 101st International Chess Day.
The Chess Association Nagpur in association with G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation, Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation & MKH Sancheti Group organised Nagpur District Amateur Selection Chess Tournament coinciding with the International Chess Day at G.H.Raisoni Institute of Information and Technology, Shraddha Park, Wadi Hingna Link Road, Near MIDC Police Station, Nagpur. The event was officially inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Rajesh Batwani, Prominent Businessman in presense of the dignitaries. The Chess Association Nagpur distributed the snacks box to all the participants of the Nagpur District Amateur Selection Chess Tournament to mark the celebration of the International Chess Day.
In all 196 participants are participating in the event which includes 77 FIDE Rated players. The event is being played in 9 rounds.
Apart from Cash Prizes sponsored by MKH Sancheti Group for Top 10 winners, trophies and medals shall also be distributed to Best- Under 7, 9,11,13,15,17, 19 and between age groups 20yrs to 39yrs, 40yrs to 60yrs and above 60 years.FA Sagar Sakhare is the Chief Arbiter for the event being assisted by FA Bharti Dhote, FA Amit Tembhurne, SNA Prayas Ambade, SNA Shrikant Bagde, SNA Shyam Agrawal, SNA Akash Rewatkar and Prathamesh Machave.
