Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today chaired a high-level meeting to review the “Comprehensive Mobility Plan” for Nagpur city and the Nagpur Metropolitan Region. The meeting was attended by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, senior officials from MahaMetro, and MLA from Nagpur District.
Addressing the media, CM Fadnavis stated that the comprehensive mobility plan outlining the transportation roadmap for the next 30 years was presented to all public representatives. The plan has been prepared by RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Services), keeping in mind the present and future needs of Nagpur district, including potential future growth centres beyond the current city limits.
“The plan includes proposals for road widening, new road construction, creation of flyovers, underpasses, efficient traffic signal systems, footpaths, and a structured public bus transport network. All existing mobility challenges are being addressed in this blueprint,” the Chief Minister said.
He added that the detailed plan will soon be released for public review and feedback will be invited from citizens. “Post public consultation, the plan will be approved and implemented in three phases, with detailed fund allocation and execution timelines. The first phase is targeted to roll out within the next five years,” he announced.
Highlighting the success of Nagpur Metro, CM Fadnavis said, “I’m extremely happy that the people of Nagpur have not only accepted the Metro but are using it extensively. With the Phase 2 expansion extending to suburban parts of Nagpur, the number of daily commuters is expected to double.”
The proposed plan aims to transform mobility infrastructure across Nagpur district and position it as a future-ready urban zone with integrated, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions.
