In a significant organizational reshuffle, the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) under its new president Harshavardhan Sapkal has announced a fresh line-up of state office bearers. The move signals the party’s focus on blending legacy leadership with youthful energy as it prepares for upcoming electoral and organizational challenges.
According to the official announcement, Ketan Thakre, son of senior Congress leader and MLA Vikas Thakre, Kunal Raut, son of senior Congress leader and former minister Nitin Raut and Yajnavalkya Jichkar, son of late Dr. Shrikant Jichkar, one of Maharashtra Congress’s most prominent intellectual figures, have been appointed as General Secretaries of the MPCC.
In addition, Atul Kotecha, Girish Pandav, and Sandesh Singalkar have been given responsibilities as General Secretaries in the state unit, while Atul Londhe will continue as the official spokesperson.
Harshavardhan Sapkal’s new team reflects the party’s dual strategy—strengthening the grassroots network while nurturing second-generation leaders. The inclusion of leaders’ sons and young faces is aimed at rejuvenating the party’s urban and rural connect, particularly in Vidarbha and Marathwada, where the new appointees have strong organizational influence.
Senior Congress leaders believe this reshuffle will boost morale, improve organizational efficiency, and prepare the party for key political battles ahead. The appointments have also sparked political discussions, as the induction of several second-generation leaders reaffirms the Congress’s legacy-driven approach in Maharashtra politics.
