The ₹135 crore flyover connecting Lakdaganj Police Station to Wardhaman Nagar is now fully constructed, yet traffic continues to flow on the old road below. Despite the completion of the bridge, vehicles are still using the old routes, and the area remains congested. This has raised questions about the delayed opening of the flyover for public use.
The construction of this flyover, aimed at easing congestion and ensuring smooth traffic flow, is part of the city’s development plan. Though the structure is complete, the administration has not yet permitted vehicular movement on it. Officials claim that trial runs and safety inspections are still underway, delaying its formal opening.
The project cost around ₹135 crore, and citizens are expressing frustration over the unnecessary wait. Many vehicles continue to navigate through the busy old streets, increasing the risk of accidents. Residents say they were expecting relief from traffic jams once the flyover was completed, but the wait continues.
The administration has stated that before opening the flyover to traffic, a 100-meter approach road and necessary safety measures must be completed. They emphasized that although the bridge is structurally ready, road safety, traffic management, and load testing are essential. Authorities are conducting final inspections to ensure that the flyover can handle heavy traffic without any risk.
The flyover’s street lights are yet to be switched on. Electrical connections and light testing will be completed soon. Additionally, the administration is currently carrying out the final load testing to ensure the bridge can safely accommodate high traffic volumes. Officials assured that the flyover will be opened to the public only after all these safety checks are successfully completed.
