Nagpur: A 94-year-old woman lost her life after her clothes caught fire while she was performing a prayer ritual at her home in Dixit Nagar on August 1, 2025.
According to police, the victim, identified as Vimla Digambar Lakhe, was offering prayers near her household shrine at around 1:30 pm when her gown accidentally touched a burning oil lamp. The garment quickly caught fire, causing her to sustain severe burn injuries.
She was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and later shifted to AIIMS Nagpur for advanced treatment. However, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Kapil Nagar Police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) based on medical advice.
