Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University celebrated its 103rd Foundation Day on Monday, with Maharashtra Minister of State for Home (Rural), Housing, School Education, and Mining Dr Pankaj Bhoyar as the chief guest. Officiating Vice-Chancellor Dr Madhavi Khode-Chawre was in the chair.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Bhoyar said that despite several changes, the university has maintained its identity as one of the prominent universities in the country. The University, established on August 4, 1923, was the only university in the region: the Sant Gadgebaba University, Amravati, and Gondwana University. Gadchiroli were carved out from this university. The University has produced people who have held key positions at the state, national, and international levels. He recalled his college days, when he was a student at the university. The university continued to impart quality education in varied fields, he added.
Former MP and owner of several educational institutions in the region, Datta Meghe, was honoured with the ‘Jeevan Sadhana’ award on the occasion. Dr Bhoyar said that Meghe’s medical college in Sawangi (Meghe) in Wardha is one of the prominent medical colleges in the country.
Director of Nikita Pharma and Academic Advisor of the University, Dr Ravlinsingh Khurana, said that the former students should contribute to the development of the university. The University should produce human resources required for the industries in this region.
Dr Madhav Khode-Chawre made introductory remarks and gave information about the activities of the university.
Besides Datta Meghe, the Best officers and employees, Senate members, students, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and sports persons of the university were felicitated.
