Gittikhadan Police have launched an investigation after a senior citizen from Friends Colony reported the theft of gold and silver ornaments, along with ₹1 lakh in cash, collectively valued at ₹26.45 lakh.
According to the complaint filed by Rama Ramjanak Singh (68), the stolen items were kept securely in an iron cupboard at her residence, located at Plot No. 100, Friends Colony. The theft reportedly occurred sometime between November 1, 2023, and May 9, 2025, but remained unnoticed until recently.
Preliminary suspicion has been directed towards a woman caretaker who was employed to look after the complainant’s grandchild during the said period. Based on this allegation, Gittikhadan Police have registered an FIR under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code.
The case is currently being investigated by PSI Sherekar, who is working to establish the involvement of the suspected house help and trace the missing valuables.
