If all goes as planned, travel between the city and MIHAN will soon get smoother. As part of the Nagpur-Butibori six-lane project, construction of a flyover from Chinchbhuwan to Khapri, under the National Highway Division of the PWD, is set to start next month. Additionally, a 3-km six-lane road from Khapri to Panjri will also be developed.
On June 18, 2021, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced the Nagpur–Butibori 6-lane highway project from Butibori itself. However, the widening work is still incomplete and has faced several delays. Initially, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) was responsible for building the 6-lane road from Panjri to Butibori. But the plan ran into trouble due to Right of Way (ROW) issues linked to Phase 2 expansion of the Metro. The design had to be revised several times. Eventually, last year, this part of the NHAI project was merged with the Metro project and is now being handled by MahaMetro.
From Panjri towards the city, the highway comes under NH PWD, which is now responsible for its construction.
