The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has announced a complete traffic closure on the Hathi Nala Bridge at Gangabai Ghat to facilitate ongoing construction. The closure will remain in effect until August 20, 2025, as per an order issued by Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari, Municipal Commissioner.
During this period, all vehicular movement over the bridge will be prohibited. Traffic has been diverted via Great Nag Road and Central Avenue (CA) Road to ensure alternate connectivity. The city traffic police, acting under the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951, have been directed to manage the diversions and maintain smooth flow at key junctions.
The bridge, a vital link for commuters in the Gangabai Ghat area, will undergo upgrades aimed at enhancing safety and durability. Civic officials have assured that the work is being executed on priority to reduce inconvenience.
Dr. Chaudhari urged citizens to cooperate with diversions and follow traffic police guidance to avoid congestion. Signboards and barricades have been placed at major entry points to assist motorists.
Once completed, the revamped bridge is expected to improve traffic safety, boost capacity, and provide a smoother commute for local residents.
