A housewife has been defrauded of ₹12 lakh in the name of a work-from-home job. A case has been registered at the Cyber Police Station.
Anita, a resident of Mini Matanagar, fell victim to the scam. While watching reels on Instagram at home, she came across an advertisement for a work-from-home opportunity. She clicked on it and was told that by liking reels and sending screenshots, she could earn ₹2,000–₹4,000 from home.
The accused later convinced her that by completing certain tasks and investing money, she would earn profits. Enticed by this promise, Anita invested ₹12.96 lakh. However, she did not receive a single rupee in return. Realizing she had been cheated, she immediately lodged a complaint.
A case has been registered against the accused, and an investigation is underway.
