Nagpur: A 44-year-old man lost his life in a hit-and-run mishap under Gittikhadan Police Station limits. The incident took place on July 18 at around 8.30 pm near Vaibhav Nagar, Dabha Road.
The deceased, Surendra Tolaram Gautam, originally from Navegaon in Balaghat district and presently residing at Bhakre Layout, Dabha, was returning home from work on his Bajaj Pulsar (MH 31 FJ 9771) when a speeding white car rammed into his bike. The driver fled the spot after the crash.
Gautam suffered grievous injuries and was rushed to Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Initially, a case of accidental death was registered. However, following the complaint of his wife Sushma Gautam (32) and further inquiry, police booked the unidentified car driver under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with relevant sections 134 and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
