Nagpur: The Social Security Branch of Nagpur Crime Branch cracked down on gambling activities in New Kamptee on Thursday evening. Acting on a tip-off, the team raided Plot No. 97, Alamnagar, under New Kamptee Police Station limits, between 5.15 pm and 6.30 pm.
During the raid, six accused — Rupchand Meshram (52), Kamlesh Phulsunge (31), Pravin Wadibhasme (30), Munnalal Kharole (63), Rohit Thote (28), and Dharmendra Savarkar (36) — were caught red-handed betting money on playing cards.
Police recovered ₹12,010 cash, six mobile phones, three vehicles, playing cards, and other material, collectively worth ₹2.05 lakh. A case has been registered under Sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Gambling Prohibition Act at New Kamptee Police Station.
The action was supervised by Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singal, along with senior officers from the detection wing. Further investigation is in progress.
