Nagpur: Continuing its drive against drug trafficking, Nandanvan Police arrested a 19-year-old youth late Thursday night for possessing MD powder worth ?42,000.
Based on reliable information, a police team laid a trap near a paan kiosk opposite New Indian Furniture Works at Shrikrishna Nagar Square. The suspect was apprehended and identified as Sarfaraz Salim Sheikh, a native of Pune, currently residing in Sheshnagar, Nagpur.
On searching him in the presence of panch witnesses, police found 4.21 grams of MD powder in a ziplock pouch, along with a mobile phone. The total seizure was valued at ?52,000.
Police said Sheikh was in possession of the contraband for illegal sale and profit. He has been booked under Sections 8(C), 22(B), and 29 of the NDPS Act. Nandanvan Police have taken him into custody and further investigation is on.
