On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day, Sitabuldi Fort in Nagpur witnessed a record number of visitors as it was opened to the public on August 15, 2025. A total of 27,632 people visited the historic fort, surpassing the earlier figure of around 26,800 visitors recorded on Republic Day this year.

The fort, located within the Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area complex, has become one of Nagpur’s most cherished heritage attractions. Its historical significance and well-maintained premises continue to draw large crowds on national occasions.
The event was marked by meticulous arrangements from the Nagpur Police and Military Police, who ensured smooth crowd management both at the Railway Gate and inside the fort complex. Patriotic songs echoed across the heritage route, with many visitors spontaneously dancing to the tunes, adding to the festive spirit.
Adequate facilities, including drinking water, food stalls, and medical support with ambulances, were provided for the comfort of the visitors. The fort saw its highest surge in footfall after 1 PM, with many families enjoying photo sessions, music, and sightseeing inside the fort premises.
Acknowledging the overwhelming response, Army personnel extended the visiting hours from 4 PM to 4:45 PM, enabling more citizens to experience the historic site. This gesture drew wide appreciation from the public, who thanked the administration for a memorable Independence Day celebration at Sitabuldi Fort.
