The National OBC Federation (Nagpur city unit) has raised serious objections to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s upcoming contractual teacher recruitment drive scheduled for August 19, alleging that no quota has been provided for OBC candidates. Federation leaders submitted a memorandum to Additional Municipal Commissioner Banakar, demanding that the process be either halted or revised to include OBC reservation.
Displaying the recruitment advertisement, delegation members pointed out how the absence of reservation amounted to discrimination against the OBC community. “This is a direct denial of our constitutional rights. If the administration goes ahead without correcting it, we will be forced to launch an agitation,” warned Federation leaders.
Banakar assured the delegation that the matter would be examined and necessary steps would be taken. The Federation then attempted to meet the Deputy Commissioner of the Education Department, but was informed that she was in a planning meeting. As a result, another memorandum was submitted at the Commissioner’s office.
The delegation strongly reminded the civic body that all future recruitments in NMC must strictly uphold OBC reservation norms. “Ignoring this will not only invite legal challenges but also mass protests from our community,” they said.
Those present included Federation central secretary Sharad Wankhede, city president Parmeshwar Raut, and office-bearers Deorao Mandavkar, Vinod Ingole, Nana Zode, Kishor Shirpukar, Haribhau Banait, Rambhau Kawadkar, Khushal Shende, Adv. Ghanshyam Mange, Ganesh Gadekar, Mangesh Kamone, Avinash Ghagre, Shakeel Patel, and Isaak Mansuri.
