The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has unveiled plans to develop the city’s first-ever theme-based gardens, aiming to add both recreational and educational value to urban spaces. The project will include the creation of a Cactus Garden, Rock Garden, Adventure Park, and Happiness Park, all by revamping existing gardens across the city.
First Project: Adventure Park at Lata Mangeshkar Garden
The civic body has already approved an Adventure Park at Lata Mangeshkar Garden, Surya Nagar, with an estimated cost of ₹18.79 crore. Of this, ₹8.58 crore will be spent on civil and landscaping works such as pathways, fencing, lawns, plantations, ticket counters, smart toilets, and office rooms, while ₹8.20 crore has been earmarked for adventure-specific facilities. The project has been put on fast track and will soon move into the tendering phase, officials said.

The Adventure Park will offer a wide range of thrill-based activities, including:
- Zip Line (Single Rope, One-Way)
- Adventure Play Station
- Low Rope Course
- Climbing & Rappelling Walls
- Sky Cycling (Double Bicycle Ropeway)
- Sky Roller (Double)

According to Ganesh Rathod, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Garden Department), these theme gardens will not only provide leisure spaces but also serve an educational purpose. “Visitors will learn about cactus species and rock varieties while enjoying recreational activities,” Rathod said.
The initiative is expected to play a key role in Nagpur’s Smart City Mission, offering unique attractions for both residents and tourists. With clearances already granted, construction work is likely to begin soon.
