The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against Deepak Lamba, former Deputy General Manager of Ambajhari Ordnance Factory in Nagpur, over alleged irregularities in the 2022 tender process.
According to the complaint, Lamba overlooked official norms and allegedly misused his authority to favor a private firm owned by Mohit Tholiya, causing wrongful gains. A contract worth ₹9.71 crore was awarded to Automation Engineering & Industrial Services, linked to Tholiya, for steel component machining in the Shell Machine Department.
The CBI has also filed a case against Automation Engineering & Industrial Services and its owner, Mohit Tholiya. The matter came to light after senior Ordnance Factory officer D.K.T. Gupta filed a complaint in July 2022, citing that Lamba had improperly supported Tholiya’s firm.
Investigations reveal that Lamba, while holding additional responsibilities, allegedly colluded with other officers and diverted government resources. Reports suggest he pressured subordinates to overlook violations during the tendering process and even issued threats of disciplinary action if they resisted.
Following complaints, the CBI conducted searches at Lamba’s residence and three other locations, seizing incriminating evidence. Authorities are now investigating the possible involvement of other Ordnance Factory officials in the case.
