Indian Railways has announced the launch of a new long-distance semi-weekly train between Jiradei (Bihar) and Erode (Tamil Nadu). The new service, numbered 16601/16602 Jiradei–Erode Amrit Bharat Express, will start operations from September 28. The inaugural run will be flagged off from Erode on September 25 and from Jiradei on September 28.
This train will also have a major halt at Nagpur, bringing great relief and convenience for passengers. The 22-coach train will run via Jiradei, Erode, Nagpur, and other important junctions, improving direct rail connectivity across states.
Train number 16601 Erode–Jiradei Amrit Bharat Express will reach Nagpur on Sundays at 9:20 AM. The return service, train number 16602 Jiradei–Erode Amrit Bharat Express, will arrive at Nagpur on Fridays at 3:45 AM and depart at 3:50 AM. This new route will especially help passengers traveling between Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and central India, reducing travel time and improving comfort.
According to South Railway officials, this Amrit Bharat Express will connect important junctions across Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, including Ballia, Chhapra, Buxar, Ara, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Itarsi, Nagpur, Balharshah, Kazipet, Guntur, Vijayawada, and Salem. With 22 modern coaches, the train will provide better facilities and comfort for long-distance passengers.
For residents of Vidarbha, especially Nagpur, this train is significant as it will provide direct access to regions in Bihar and Tamil Nadu without the need for multiple changes. Social activists have welcomed the decision, calling it an important step to improve travel convenience for passengers in central India.
