An online application process has started for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Examination (NMMS), which provides financial assistance to economically weaker students. The exam is being conducted under the initiative of the Ministry of Education. Students from government, aided, and local body schools can benefit from this scheme.
Under this scheme, eligible students will receive an annual scholarship of ₹12,000 until they complete their higher secondary education.
Exam in Seven Languages
The examination will be held in seven languages: Marathi, English, Urdu, Hindi, Gujarati, Telugu, and Kannada.
Possible Exam and Result Dates
The exam is scheduled for December 21 across the state. The results are expected to be declared in February.
Eligibility and Conditions
The student must be studying in a government, aided, or local body school.
The annual income of the student’s family should not exceed ₹3,50,000.
The student must have scored at least 55% marks in the previous class (minimum 50% for SC/ST students).
Who Cannot Apply?
Students from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya, residential schools, and private schools are not eligible for this scholarship.
Where and How to Apply?
The application must be filled online only. Students should apply at the official website of Maharashtra State Council of Examination: www.mscepune.in and www.mscepuppss.in. After filling the application form online, students must submit a printout of the form to their school, along with required documents.
About NMMS Exam
The NMMS exam aims to identify meritorious students from economically weaker sections and support them financially to prevent dropout after Class 8. Students who qualify will be awarded a scholarship of ₹12,000 per year till Class 12.
