A fire broke out in Gondia’s Government Medical College and Hospital around 11.30 am on Tuesday. The fire in the OPD (Outdoor Patients department) caused by a short circuit led to patients and their relatives running out for safety.
Dense smoke filled the area, disturbing the indoor patients and their relatives. The administration immediately informed the fire brigade, and the fire was brought under control. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
The security at hospitals again became a subject of discussion. The details of the fire safety system at the hospital, however, were not known.
