The Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s nuisance detection squad cracked down on multiple violations across the city on Wednesday, imposing fines totaling ₹70,000. The action followed growing complaints from residents about pollution, illegal dumping, and plastic use.
The biggest penalty was imposed on Super Chemical Supplier, located in the Ashi Nagar zone, after smoke emissions from the factory were found to be polluting the surrounding area. The NMC team slapped a fine of ₹25,000 on the unit.
In Laxmi Nagar zone, Earth Infra was fined ₹10,000 for dumping construction material on public roads, while in Dharampeth zone, Aditi Heights faced a similar fine of ₹10,000 for the same violation.
The drive also targeted unauthorized advertising. Madhuban Exhibition was penalized ₹5,000 for putting up banners on electric poles without permission.
Plastic usage violations were also booked. In Dhantoli zone, Hariom Bhojanalaya was fined ₹5,000 for using banned plastic items. In Gandhibagh zone, Jaimata Di Kirana Shop was fined the same amount, while in Satranjipura zone, L.K. Food Products faced an identical penalty for distributing plastic bags.
In Lakadganj zone, Moin Sheikh was fined ₹5,000 for mixing laboratory waste with general garbage, violating disposal norms.
The NMC has stepped up its enforcement drive across all zones, warning establishments that repeated violations will invite stricter penalties. Officials said the campaign aims to curb pollution, keep roads obstruction-free, and enforce plastic restrictions more stringently.
