A shocking revelation has emerged in the case related to the alleged attack on former Home Minister and NCP (Sharad Pawar group) leader Anil Deshmukh during the Assembly election campaign. The State Forensic Laboratory has confirmed that the incident was fabricated. Following this disclosure, the rural police have submitted a ‘B-Final’ report to the court, indicating that the case was false. The revelation has stirred political debate in the region.
According to the police, Deshmukh was contesting from Katol as a Sharad Pawar group candidate. On November 19, 2024, while travelling from Narkhed to Katol in his Endeavour car, his vehicle was allegedly attacked with stones by four people near Belkhatta. The driver and Deshmukh were said to have been injured, with Deshmukh reportedly sustaining a deep wound on his head. The police later recovered two stones from the vehicle and sent them to the State Forensic Lab for analysis.
The forensic report revealed inconsistencies in the claims. Investigators recreated the crime scene using another vehicle of the same model. Based on three key findings, they concluded that no actual attack took place. The report stated that the reinforced glass of Deshmukh’s car was not shattered but only cracked—something that cannot happen unless hit repeatedly with great force. Moreover, if the glass had broken, the driver’s side would have shown injuries from sharp fragments, but no such wounds were found on Deshmukh or the driver.
The forensic team thus concluded that the alleged attack was staged, and the injuries reported did not match the nature of a real stone assault.
