The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has officially received the State Election Commission’s (SEC) approval for its final ward boundaries, marking a dramatic reshaping of the city’s electoral map ahead of the 2026 civic elections. The SEC’s latest order has introduced key boundary corrections in Prabhag 7, 9 and 28, changes expected to influence both governance and the coming political contest.
The most prominent shift comes between Prabhag 7 and 9, where the SEC ruled that the main road will now serve as the official dividing line. This move not only simplifies administration but also changes the voter mix in central Nagpur. Under the new plan, enumeration block 336 has been moved from Prabhag 7 to Prabhag 9, while the adjacent playground remains in 7. In another tweak, Math Mohalla now comes under Prabhag 9, and a part of Ashok Nagar—previously in Prabhag 6—has been merged with Prabhag 7.
Meanwhile, the southern boundary of Prabhag 28 has been redrawn to precisely match the NMC–Bahadura Nagar Panchayat limits, removing semi-rural stretches wrongly shown as part of the city.
On the ground, Prabhag 7 now covers Indora, Pachpaoli and Ashi Nagar; Prabhag 9 spans Bezonbagh, Sadar and Tekdi Ganpati; and Prabhag 28 includes the Umred Road–Sakkardara–Nandanvan belt.
With these adjustments, the NMC’s civic battlefield has been redefined — sharper boundaries, clearer representation, and a charged political map ready for the 2026 polls.
