As part of the National Highway Development Vision 2047, a meeting of stakeholders connected with the proposed Nagpur–Hyderabad Expressway Corridor was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari. The meeting reviewed and discussed five proposed route alternatives for the expressway in detail.
During the discussion, Bidari directed concerned departments to ensure that the project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) is prepared in a manner that minimizes environmental impact and avoids damage to forests, wildlife zones, and coal blocks. She emphasized close coordination among departments to incorporate necessary design improvements before finalizing the alignment.
The Nagpur–Hyderabad Expressway forms a crucial part of the National Highways Master Plan 2047, launched by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to establish a modern, integrated transport network across India. The expressway aims to connect regional divisions efficiently, streamline traffic flow, and stimulate social and economic development along its route.
The meeting, held at the Divisional Commissioner’s office, was attended by R.P. Singh, Regional Officer, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI); N.S. Ansari, Executive Engineer, MSRDC; Pradeep Kulkarni, Joint Commissioner (Rehabilitation); O.S. Sujit Sen, General Manager, Western Coal Limited; Abdul Javed, Senior Engineer, NMRDA; and senior officials from MIDC. Sub-divisional officers from concerned regions participated via video conferencing.
The project is expected to become a vital high-speed corridor linking Maharashtra and Telangana, promoting balanced regional growth and enhanced connectivity under the national infrastructure vision for 2047.
