Union Minister Nitin Gadkari raised serious questions about the long-delayed 24×7 Water Supply Scheme in Nagpur, which aims to ensure round-the-clock water availability under the “24×7 Jalapurti Yojana.” Despite years of work and heavy investments, several tanks and pipelines are still incomplete, leaving many city areas without consistent water supply.
During a review meeting held at his residence, Gadkari expressed displeasure over the slow progress. The meeting was attended by MLA Krishna Khopde, Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari (Municipal Commissioner), Additional Commissioners Hemant Pawar, OSDs of Smart City and Water Works departments, and senior officials from Orange City Water (OCW) and other civic agencies.
Gadkari questioned why, even after so much expenditure and planning, citizens still face irregular water supply. He instructed the officials to speed up the remaining construction work and ensure that both Pratap Nagar and Bharatwada Smart City Zones start receiving uninterrupted water supply soon. He emphasized that the city’s water projects should meet quality standards and be completed within deadlines.
The Union Minister also reviewed other civic projects related to cleanliness, road construction, and safety measures for citizens, instructing authorities to improve overall coordination and ensure better public convenience.
