Nagpur Traffic Police tighten enforcement against illegal parking, pickup and drop activities by private travel buses
Nagpur: In a strong message to private travel bus operators, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Lohit Matani on Saturday warned that any bus found violating parking or passenger pickup-drop rules within city limits will face permit cancellation and vehicle seizure.
According to a traffic notification issued on September 12, 2025, private travel buses have been banned from parking or halting for passenger pickup or drop between 8 am and 10 pm along the Inner Ring Road and adjoining areas of Nagpur city.
However, despite repeated instructions, several private buses continue to flout the rules by stopping on busy roads for passenger boarding and alighting. Traffic police have already initiated legal action against offenders under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Matani stated that repeat offenders’ permits will be recommended for cancellation by the Regional Transport Office (RTO), and their vehicles will be seized if violations persist.
The DCP has urged all private travel operators to follow traffic norms and cooperate with the department to maintain discipline and ensure smooth traffic movement across Nagpur.
