In a major relief for students, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has announced a one-time concession under the Allowed to Keep Term (ATKT) scheme. The decision, taken during an emergency meeting of the Academic Council, will enable students who were earlier barred from progressing to the next semester under ATKT rules to now secure admission and appear for their examinations.
Applicable for 2025–26 Academic Session Only
The special relaxation will be valid exclusively for the academic year 2025–26 and applies to students currently in the 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th semesters. As per the official circular issued by the university, the concession covers students enrolled in Choice Based System (CBS) or Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) courses whose final examinations were scheduled for Winter 2024 or Summer 2025.
These students will be given a final opportunity to clear their pending subjects during the Winter 2025 examinations.
Certain Courses Excluded from Concession
RTMNU has clarified that this relaxation will not apply to professional courses such as B.Ed., M.Ed., B.P.Ed., M.P.Ed., B.Pharm., and M.Pharm. Students from these programmes will continue to be governed by their existing academic regulations without any additional leniency.
University’s Objective Behind the Move
The decision aims to ensure that students affected by previous ATKT restrictions do not lose an entire academic year. It is a one-time measure to help those who, despite academic challenges, wish to complete their courses within the stipulated time frame.
By introducing this temporary ATKT concession, RTMNU seeks to provide academic relief while maintaining fairness and accountability in the evaluation process.
