Nagpur: Commuters using the Nagpur–Chhindwara Road are facing major inconvenience due to the installation of unusually large speed breakers on the flyover. The newly constructed bumps are so high that vehicles are forced to either slow down drastically or come to a complete halt to cross safely.
According to a press release issued by Dr. M.A. Rasheed, media in-charge of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Nagpur, even vehicles moving at very low speeds experience severe jolts while passing over these speed breakers, causing discomfort to passengers and drivers alike. The problem is particularly distressing for individuals suffering from conditions like spondylitis.
The oversized speed bumps are also leading to traffic congestion as vehicles take longer to pass through the stretch, creating a bottleneck during busy hours.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has appealed to the concerned authorities to reduce the height of the speed breakers or replace them with rumble strips or stickers. The organisation stated that such a move would help maintain road safety while ensuring smoother traffic flow for commuters.
