Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday felicitated winners of the ‘Rang De Nagpur’ wall painting competition, organised by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) as part of its Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
The competition received an overwhelming response from artists across Maharashtra, with participants transforming city walls into vibrant canvases over two days. The winners were awarded cash prizes worth several lakh rupees, and the Chief Minister personally commended the artists for their creativity and contribution to beautifying the city.
The contest featured two categories — students (18 years and above) and professionals. Artists from Nagpur, Mumbai, Thane, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, and Wardha participated. Out of 118 entries, 92 groups were found eligible under the NMC’s themes, with nearly 300 artists painting the city’s streets.
Student artists showcased their talent on the Sundarlal Rai (NEERI) Road near Deekshabhoomi, while professionals displayed their creations on the walls of Freedom Park, Sitabuldi. Students from the Government College of Art, Nagpur, Natraj Art and Culture College, and Government College of Art, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar played a leading role.
The event was attended by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Minister Atul Save, Minister of State Ashish Jaiswal, MPs, MLAs, and senior civic and district officials, including Municipal Commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari and District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar.
The winners received prizes ranging from ₹25,000 to ₹1.25 lakh in both student and professional categories.
