Nagpur — In a move aimed at empowering ex-servicemen with professional skills, the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) under the Ministry of Defence has approved the Certificate in Accounting Technicians (CAT)course offered by The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) for retiring and retired Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and Other Ranks (ORs).
The initiative seeks to support the career transition and resettlement of defence personnel by equipping them with vital accounting and financial management skills that enhance employability in the civilian workforce.
According to the DGR’s 2025-26 training calendar, the Nagpur Chapter commenced its first batch of 32 candidateson October 27, 2025, with the course scheduled to continue until February 13, 2026.
The inaugural session was held at CMA Bhawan, Laxmi Nagar, Nagpur, in the presence of several dignitaries, including CMA Rajat Naidu, Chairman of the Chapter; CMA Manisha Agrawal, WIRC Nominee; CMA P.S. Patil, Chairman of the Professional Development Committee; CMA Renu Kulkarni, Faculty Member; and CMA Manish Pandey, Secretary of the Chapter. The programme was coordinated by CMA Pushpraj Kulkarni, Programme Coordinator.
Officials noted that the collaboration between DGR and ICAI will open new avenues for defence personnel to build successful post-service careers in finance and accounting.
