Daily commuters using the Jaiprakash Nagar Metro Station on the Khapri–Automotive Square corridor are facing persistent difficulties due to the closure of one of the station’s key entry–exit gates. The gate, reportedly shut for technical or maintenance reasons, has disrupted the smooth movement of passengers who depend on this busy station.
Commuters Forced to Cross Busy Wardha Road Twice
The station witnesses heavy footfall because of its strategic location and easy accessibility. However, with one gate closed, passengers are compelled to park their vehicles on one side of Wardha Road and then cross the bustling traffic to access the opposite entrance for tickets and platform entry.
After collecting tickets, commuters must again use the cross-link bridge to return to the side where they parked, resulting in unnecessary back-and-forth movement. This not only wastes time but also poses safety risks—especially during office hours when traffic is at its peak.
Pedestrians say crossing Wardha Road has become particularly challenging, with elderly passengers, students, and those carrying luggage finding it difficult to navigate the situation.
Commuters Express Frustration Over Lack of Clarity
“It’s very difficult, especially during office rush hour. We have to cross heavy traffic twice just to catch the train,” said one regular commuter, echoing the frustration of many.
When contacted, the Station Manager confirmed that the gate remains closed due to operational work but did not specify the exact reason or offer a timeline for reopening. The lack of clear communication from Maha Metro has left commuters confused and dissatisfied, with many questioning whether the issue stems from poor execution or miscommunication within the organisation.
Residents Demand Quick Action and Better Management
Local residents have urged Maha Metro to speed up repairs and restore access through the closed gate at the earliest. They also stressed the need for improved crowd management and clear signboards to guide passengers until normal operations resume.
Though the inconvenience may be temporary, the situation underscores the importance of maintaining unhindered passenger access in a rapidly growing city like Nagpur, where public transport plays a crucial role in daily mobility.
