The “Taxpayers’ Hub” outreach programme organized by the Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Nagpur, in coordination with the Directorate of Income Tax (PR & P&P), New Delhi commenced today at Banyan Hall, Chitnavis Centre, Temple Road, Nagpur.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Ms. Malathi R. Sridharan, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Nagpur. The event was attended by other senior officers of the Income Tax Department and the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), Nagpur. Representatives from trade, commerce, industries and members of the chartered accountant fraternity were also present.
In her inaugural address, Hon’ble Pr. CCIT, Nagpur emphasized the vital role of income tax in nation-building and stressed the importance of voluntary compliance supported by the Department’s approach of minimum interference. She also highlighted the remarkable efforts of the Income Tax Department in preparing the new and simplified Income Tax Bill within a very short timeframe.
The inaugural event also featured a cultural performance of the folk art of Vidarbha, Dandar, followed by a Nukkad Natak raising awareness on the importance of accurate tax filing and method of doing so.
Dedicated kiosks have been set up at the venue, manned by officers and staff of the Income Tax Department, Nagpur, to provide information on taxpayer services and assist in resolution of queries and grievances.
The Income Tax Department, Nagpur invites citizens, taxpayers, professionals and students to visit the Taxpayers’ Hub during the three day event and avail themselves of the services, guidance and interactive facilities being provided at the venue.
