A 17-year-old college student was brutally attacked in Imamwada after a youth allegedly obsessed with her slit her throat and struck her head with a hammer on Monday. The incident occurred near Ashok Chowk, leaving the minor girl grievously injured. Imamwada Police have arrested the accused, identified as Suraj Krishnaprasad Shukla (26), a resident of Imamwada.
According to police, Suraj had been stalking the girl for several days due to a one-sided infatuation. He repeatedly followed her on her way to college, professed his feelings, and behaved indecently with her. Disturbed by his conduct, the girl informed her parents, who then confronted Suraj’s family. Enraged by this, Suraj continued to trail the girl.
On the morning of November 17, as the girl was heading to college, Suraj intercepted her at Ashok Chowk. When she refused to speak to him, he allegedly attacked her from behind with an iron hammer, causing severe head injuries. He then used a sharp weapon to slash her throat and cheek in an attempt to kill her. Locals rushed to help upon witnessing the assault, forcing Suraj to flee.
The injured minor was immediately taken to Government Medical Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, Imamwada Police registered a case under Sections 109, 75 and 78 of the BNS, along with relevant sections of the POCSO Act. PSI Kakde has arrested the accused, and further investigation is underway.
